English 11 Blocks 1/2: Homework for Tuesday
  • Get ready for Tuesday's subject-verb agreement test.
  • Our first comparison essay will be due next Friday, Oct. 12. We will have no more class time for the essay, so this will be your homework.
    • The topic for the essay is as follows: Compare and contrast the movie Beyond the Reach with the original novel, Deathwatch.
  • Did you miss the Deathwatch 2 exam?
    • How do the town authorities react to Ben and Madec? Why is this surprising? Why is it not?
    • Which evidence saves Ben?
    • Review all your Powerpoint notes in your fiction section.

      English 12 Block 3: Homework for Tuesday
      • Finish the questions for "Say Yes":
        • 1. Explain the argument that Ann and her husband are having. (2)
        • 2. Is the husband a sincere man, or is he deluding (kidding) himself? Is he over-compensating? Explain with reasons. (2)
        • 3. The story is told in the 3rd person limited omniscient point of view. Which character’s perspective is this story told from? Why do you think Wolff made this choice? (2)
        • 4. Explain what you believe to be the central theme of the story. What insight into the human condition is being offered? (2)
        • 5. Nothing is by accident in a short story. Explain what the dogs or the dishwater might symbolize. (2)
