- Read Chp. 6 of October Sky. The first test, on Chps. 1-6, will be written on Monday, Dec. 10.
- Work on your Part 1 study guide and vocabulary. The study guide is due before you write the test, and the first part of the test is a 10 mark matching section on the vocabulary.

- Be ready for the first The Great Gatsby exam on Monday. Dec. 10. It covers Chps. 1-3. Study your Chp. 1 notes and class notes!
- Consider the following issues:
- How does the novel (so far) resemble Fitzgerald's life?
- How are the wealthy in this novel different from the rest of us?
- How do the settings in the first three chapters help describe American society in the 1920's?

English 9 Linear: Homework for Tuesday
- Finish the newspaper/magazine project.
- The Newspaper Project: Review the last six chapters of Interface. Choose one chapter and then choose four articles/stories within that chapter (except the poems). By the end of next week, we will have typed up four explanatory paragraphs (of 8 to 12 sentences). They should all follow the same format:
- Explain your article like this!
- TS: Bob Smith's "--------------------" explains how/discuses the/argues that ______________________________. [Transition phrase, ...]
- Explain three events, examples and/or points in full detail.
- CS: Overall, what is the author's message? What is your view of this message?
- Use 2-4 introductory transitions.
- 14 font size; 1.5x spacing
- Aligned: Full "Justify"
- Right Indent: 8 cm or 3.15 inches
- Create a title and include your full name.
- No line breaks, please!
