Communications 11 Block 1: Homework for Monday

• Keep working on 3.2. It's due on Monday.
• Finish 2.4 and 3.1, and write the Mod. 2 test (3.1 is due by the end of the week or the first day back after the spring break.)
• Finish the Module 2 review before you write the Module 2 unit exam!

English 11 Block 2: Homework for Monday

• The first October Sky exam will be written on Monday, April 4. It will assess vocabulary and comprehension. 
• Make sure you complete the study guide! It's due on Monday before you write the exam.
• Read to p. 111 of October Sky by Monday. Don't have your book? Try this epub version for your ereader, iPad, or iPod. (Right click and choose "Save as" or "Save link as".) Apple and Android also have free epub readers for their phones. 
• Did you write today's confusing words test?
• Did you write the in-class essay before the spring break? Using your two T-charts, create an outline for each of the two different compare and contrast topics:
1. Compare and contrast the relationships that the father in “Wordsmith” and Sam Sing in “The Gold Mountain Coat” have with their children. 
2. Compare and contrast the short story and film versions of "The Painted Door".
• It's probably best to attempt a simple form of the compare and contrast essay.
• If not finished, complete reading Sinclair Ross's "The Painted Door". Then, watch the video version of the story and create a T-chart of differences and similarities between the two versions. Aim for at least 15 point in total.
