English 10 Block 1: Homework for Tuesday, January 3
  • Finish reading up to 2.4 in Romeo and Juliet
  • Did you write last Wednesday's Act 1 test?
    • Finish reading all of Act 1 in Romeo and Juliet.
    • Feel free to read the modern English version of No Fear Shakespeare.
    • Finish the Act 1 study guide by Tuesday night. It's the basis of tomorrow's test. Also study "The Life and Times of Shakespeare" sheet and the literary terms sheet.

English 12 Block 2Homework for Tuesday, January 3
  • Did you write the in-class quiz on "How much land does a man need?"? If not, come see me after school in January.
  • If not done, finish the following questions for "Say Yes":
    • 1. Explain the argument that Ann and her husband are having. (2)
    • 2. Is the husband a sincere man, or is he deluding himself? Explain with reasons. (3)
    • 3. The story is told in the 3rd person limited omniscient point of view. Which character’s perspective is this story told from? Why do you think Wolff made this choice? (2)
    • 4. Explain what you believe to be the central theme of the story. What insight into the human condition is being offered? (3)
    • 5. Nothing is by accident in a short story. Explain what the dogs or the dishwater might symbolize. (2)
