English 12 (S2) Blocks 2/4: Homework for Tuesday
- Complete two t-charts for the following essay options:
- Compare and contrast "The Tyranny of the Clock" and "If Hitler Asked..."
- Compare and contrast "I Have a Dream" and "Death and Justice".
- Choose eight quotes (two each from the four essays) that exemplify each essay's key thesis and writing style. Write them down with an introduction (using one of the three blending styles) and then cite them with the MLA system.
- Read both "If Hitler Asked..." (P. Mayer) and "I Have A Dream" M.L. King) from the essay booklet and write one page of point-form notes for each of the essays. Focus on topic/thesis, major points, key examples, stylistic devices and types of writing.
- Review these videos:
English 10 Block 3: Homework for Tuesday
- Read all of Act 3 of Romeo and Juliet. The Act 2/3 test will be written on Tuesday.
- Finish the Act 2 Study Guide and the Act 3 Study Guide.
- Review these sections via the No Fear Romeo and Juliet website. Re-read the original Shakespearian text and then read the modern English interpretation.
- The test will be a mixture of fill-in the blank, multiple choice and short answer responses.
- There will also be a compare and contrast paragraph. Consider the character traits of the main characters!
English 12 Linear Block 1: Homework for Wednesday
- Read Luisa Valenzuela's "The Censors" and be ready for a quiz on Wednesday. Take notes on plot, characters, themes and symbols.
- If not finished, read William Faulkner's "A Rose for Emily" and complete this handout.
