- Finish reading George Woodcock's essay, "The Tyranny of the Clock." We'll be writing an in-class open book test on Monday. Consider the following:
- thesis
- main examples
- stylistic devices
- your personal evaluation of his argument
- If not done, finish the following questions for Jo Ann Parker's "What is poverty?":
- 1. What is the main point (thesis) of this essay?
- 2. Explain at least 3 major examples or illustrations in Parker’s essay. This should take at least three sentences.
- 3. Explain one stylistic device used in this essay.
- 4. Explain how this is an expository form of essay. This should take at least two sentences. Is it completely expository? Why or why not?
- 5. Evaluation: What did you like and/or dislike about this essay? Be specific.
English 10 Block 3: Homework for Monday
- Re-read all of Act 1 of Romeo and Juliet. Finish the Act 1 Study Guide because the Act 1 test is coming up on Monday!
- The test will be a mixture of fill-in the blank, multiple choice and short answer responses.
- Review this section via the No Fear Romeo and Juliet website. Re-read the original Shakespearian text and then read the modern English interpretation.
- Did you write the capitalization quiz?
