English 10 Blocks 1/2: Homework for Wednesday
  • Be ready for Thursday's vocab test! It covers the 60 words from the first 4 vocabulary lists.
  • Read the short story "Lenses" and answer the following questions in full:
    • 1. Describe, as far as possible, the setting of the story. 
    • 2. In the last two pages, Silverman uses a number of phrases to make the surgical procedure sound awful. Quote two passages (using “quotations marks”) that show how Corinne views the procedure. Use full sentences.
    • 3. A dilemma is a choice with two difficult outcomes. Describe Corinne’s internal conflict. Do you agree with her choice?
    • 5. If you could have the metal eyes that Grusha is receiving, and get perfect vision as a result, would you do it? Why or why not?
      • Answer in full sentences. Do not start with “because”, "to", “so”, “that” or “then”. You’ll receive up to two marks each.
  • Did you miss the questions for "Another Evening at the Club"? If so, complete the alt assignment to avoid late marks. In a short paragraph, explain the moral choice in "Another Evening at the Club". Do you agree with the outcome?
  • Did you hand in the typed good copy of your essay?
    •  "Are 16 year-olds adults or children, or something in-between?"

English 12 Block 3: Homework for Wednesday
  • Read Chp. 13 of Under the Ribs of Death (UTROD) for Monday. Finish the vocab definitions and start the study guide for Part 3.
  • Did you miss the 2nd UTROD exam (Chps. 6-12)?
  • Did you hand in and/or show me the parental contact letter and your labelled tab dividers? 

English 12 Block 4 Linear: Homework for Wednesday
  • Complete the study guide for Part 1 of Under the Ribs of Death (UTROD) and be ready for Wednesday's test on Chps. 1 to 5!
    • Do you know your vocabulary terms?
    • Did you study the notes on plot and the themes of UTROD?
    • Have you read all the way to the end of Chp. 5?
  • Did you hand in and/or show me the parental contact letter and your labelled tab dividers?
