English 11
- Thanks for a great octet, English 11! See you soon!
- Today we finished work on the 2nd essay. It's based on the short story "I Go Along", which we read last week. Download the pdf from Teams and review the story. Then do the following:
- For TUESDAY:
- study the lesson on blending and citing quotations and this overview;
- identify three quotations for each of the two essay topics (i.e. 2a "going along" and 2b "nonconformity") from p. 13 of the "I Go Along" pdf. Look for quotations that are relevant to the themes of "going along" and "nonconformity";
- create 3 sentences for each essay topic (2 x3 = 6 sentences in total). Each sentence must employ a quotation from above. Provide a citation [e.g. "____" (Peck 5).] .
- For THURSDAY
- Create an outline for both topics. (See p. 13 on "the pdf from Teams" link.) Download the outline sheet here.
- For topic 2a (on "going along") one option for the three body paragraphs might be:
- "going along" in his own class;
- "going along" during the bus trip;
- "going along" at the poetry reading.
- For topic 2b (on "nonconformity") one option for the three body paragraphs might be:
- the poet's lack of conformity;
- Sharon's lack of conformity;
- Gene's lack of conformity;
