- Complete 1-2 pages of point form notes on your ethical philosophy.
- Indent, use bullets, and write down key quotations.
- Answer the following questions about "The Tyranny of the Clock" for Monday:
- 1. According to Woodcock, what is the difference between the ancient and modern western definitions of time? (2)
- 2. Which group in society embraced and encouraged the new conception of time? Why? (2)
- 3. What is Woodcock’s overall thesis? That is, what is the problem of the clock? (2)
- 4. Why is the clock a potential threat to our autonomy? (2)
- Answer in full sentences. Ensure your answers are full and thorough. Don’t start with “Because”, “So”, “That” or “Which”. Hand in your answers on a separate piece of paper.
- For Thursday, complete a good copy of a paragraph - not an essay - that answers the following question: What is philosophy?
- Identify and prioritize the three most important issues/points that explain the nature of philosophy. I want quality, not quantity. :-)
- Your paragraph should be organized like a "Standard Body Paragraph".
- Format:
- 8-16 sentences
- no line breaks
- one indentation at the beginning
- best argument last
- 12 or 14 font/1.5 spacing
- Use any and all of our notes, brainstorms, and textbook readings, but be picky! You don't need to cover everything.
- No H18's! :-)
- It is due Thursday and will be marked on the 6 point scale out of 36. Send your paragraph to me via the Share function of Office 365.
- Finish all of the Ethics 1 questions if you were away today. I'll collect them Monday. Answer in full with opening capital letters and end punctuation!
- For Wednesday, make sure you have three (3) labeled tab dividers with the following labels: Journal/Units/Applied Phil.
