- For Monday, read to the end of Deathwatch.
- Complete the relevant sections in your Part 2 study Guide.
- We'll write the 2nd Deathwatch test on Monday, June 7.

- Once you've finished the novel, completed the study guide, and reviewed your notes, try out the online Part 2 crossword!
- Have you sent in the inquiry essay, Should 16 year-olds be considered children, adults, or something else?
- Carefully consider the order of body paragraphs. The order should conform to your overall thesis. If you have a complex response, the anti-thesis paragraph goes first (starting with something like To be sure,…) and the pro-thesis paragraphs go last (with BP2 starting with something similar to Nevertheless,…). Otherwise, order your paragraphs chronologically or from least to most effective. You always want to finish strongly.
- You’ll probably have to rework the introductory sentences of the body paragraphs, since they now must work with other paragraphs. Transitions should be used!
- Feel free to revise and upgrade your paragraphs. Aim for as much detail in the body examples as possible.
- Avoid repeating the same transitions. For example, don’t use “for example” five times!
- Use the following formatting guidelines:
- Use 12 or 14 font size.
- Use a standard font type (like Calibri, Garamond, Times New Roman or Arial)
- Use 1.5 spacing and indent each paragraph (via “Tab”).
- Provide an extra space between paragraphs.
- At the top of the essay, create a title and use your full name.
- Avoid the “Hateful 18” and dead words like “being”, “having” and “thing”. In fact, starting sentences with “Being”, “Having” and “With” often leads to wordy and passive sentences. Be specific and concise!
- The essay should be sent to me via Office 365 Share by Monday, June 7.
