 English 12 Block 1:

  • For Tuesday, read Chp. 7 The Great Gatsby and complete a set of notes (i.e. Cornell notes, quote note, or a mind map.)
    • You can download the free epub version of The Great Gatsby here. (Right click and hit Save link as...). Then, open it up in a free epub reader like Frieda. Most of these free apps have a read-aloud function.
    • Alternatively, you can read use an online audio book version here.
  • The essay was due on Monday by 4:00 pm. Send it to me via "Share". Don't forget to follow the checklist I handed out.

    English 9 Block 2:

    • Finish all of the rough copy mini-paragraphs for your poetry project. Bring art supplies for tomorrow's class.
    • We'll be writing a quiz on fragments and run-ons on Wednesday.
    • Here are the four poetry note sets. (Use "Save link as" to save them to your download folder):

    English 11 Block 3: 
    • Test alert: Finish reading the entire book, including the epilogue of October Sky. Complete the Part 4 study guide.  We'll write the final test on Tuesday.

    English 11 Block 4 (Day 2):
     
    • On Friday I'll want you to analyze two webpages (below) archived by Snopes.Com. (Snopes.com is considered one of the most reliable web sites for detecting and analyzing fake news.)
      • Download the response sheet here.
        • Print this out or replicate the sheet. Using everything we've learned so far, let's do some analysis. Take at least 3 point form notes for each of the 4 sections. Include quotes if possible. 4 marks x4 = 16 marks.
      • Here are the online news articles to examine:
    • For Thursday, Jan. 5, type up the different paragraphs into one essay that answers the following question: Describe the strengths and weaknesses of digital technology.
