English 11 Block 1:

  • For Monday
    • Complete your rough copy paragraphs on the following topics: 
      • 1. What are the benefits of digital technology?
      • 2. What are the disadvantages of digital technology?
        • Format: 8-16 sentences/no line breaks/TS-Body-CS/2-4 intro. transitions/Be neutral; avoid discussing the other side.
        • Feel free to use the sample topic sentence: There are many benefits/disadvantages of digital technology. To start, ...
    • Long term
        • Did you miss the "Parts of the Sentence" test? If so, see me ASAP!
        • If you missed the Maus II test, see me ASAP!
        • Your binder will need three labeled tabs: Grammar / Writing / Units [/5 marks].

        English 12 Block 2:

        • For Monday
          • Review these notes on the paragraph!
            • Paragraph 2If not finished, complete a rough copy persuasive paragraph on one of the following topics:
                1. Is it a good idea to keep pets outdoors?
                2. Should distance learning replace traditional classes?
                3. School sports should be mandatory in grades 11 and 12.
                4. What are the factors that define true friendship?
                  • No I or my // 8-16 sentences // 2-4 intro transitions // no line breaks // draft copy
            • If not finished, complete the following questions regarding the two "Montreal Massacre" essays:
              • 1. What is the central argument (or point) of each essay? (2)
              • 2. What is similar between the essays? What is different? (2)
              • 3. Why are both examples of persuasive writing? (2)
              • 4. Choose one of the essays. Explain one reason the essay is effective. (1)

          Philosophy 12 Block 3: 

          • For Monday
            • Complete your good copy of one of your seven journal entries. Write it like a traditional paragraph. Send it in via Office 365's "Share" feature. If you haven't handed them in already, also hand in 5 of your best original journal entries.
            • Complete your ethics poster! 



          English 11 Block 4 (Day 2):
           

          • For Tuesday
            • Test alert! Review your handouts for Tuesday's subject verb agreement test!
            • Read Chp. 8+ of October Sky. Continue the Part 2 study guide and study your vocabulary.
              • If you're interested, you can read an epub version of October Sky:
                • Right-click here and choose Save Link As...
                • Load the epub file into a free epub reader app. There are free apps on all platforms. These apps should have a Read Aloud function.
            • Test alert! Did you miss the Part 1 test?
              • Finish reading Chp. 5 and 6 of October Sky. Finish the study guide with as much detail as possible. Don't forget that the vocabulary on the back of the study guide will be part of the Part 1 test (Wed. March 8)!
              • Study your Powerpoint and map notes, as well as the following online crossword: Part 1 Crossword
