      • Your binder will need three labeled tabs: Grammar / Writing / Units [/5 marks].

      English 12 Block 2:

      • For Thursday
        • Finish the question on David Suzuki's "Hidden Lessons":
          • Answer in full sentences on a separate piece of paper.
            • 1. What is the author’s central thesis (or argument)? (1)
            • 2. How does the author use cause and effect? (i.e. What is the “cause” and what is the “effect”?) (1)
            • 3. How is it an example of expository writing? (1)
            • 4. Why is it not completely expository? (1)
        • Review these notes on the paragraph!
        • If you missed the En. 12 Fiction Exam, see me ASAP!
        • If you missed it, read Kate Chopin's "The Story of an Hour" for Friday's quiz. Review the notes (below) on plot, characters, pov, theme and symbolism, and irony.
        • Did you miss the "How much land... ?" quiz? If so, see me ASAP!

      Philosophy 12 Block 3: 
      • For Thursday
        • Complete your notes on your ethics topic:
          • Read the rest of your assigned reading;
          • Take at least 1 to 2 pages of point form notes on the key issues within these pages.


        • If not finished, read Maya Angelou's "Grandmother's Victory" and answer the following questions:
          • 1. Provide an example of the respect displayed within Momma Henderson’s household. (1)
          • 2. Describe one example of how the poor white children act like “trash”. (1)
          • 3. Why is Angelou’s grandmother victorious? (1)
          • 4. What do you think Angelou is saying about racism? (1)
            • Answer in full sentences. Ensure your answers are full and thorough. Hand in your answers on a separate piece of paper. 
        • Finish all the questions on Ethics.


      English 11 Block 4 (Day 2): 
      • For Thursday
        • Read Chp. 4 of October Sky and start Chp. 5. Work on the study guide as you read. Don't forget that the vocabulary on the back of the study guide will be part of the Part 1 test (Wed. March 8)!
          • If you're interested, you can read an epub version of October Sky:
            • Right-click here and choose Save Link As...
            • Load the epub file into a free epub reader app. There are free apps on all platforms. These apps should have a Read Aloud function.
