- 1. What is the central argument (or point) of each essay? (2)
- 2. What is similar between the essays? What is different? (2)
- 3. Why are both examples of persuasive writing? (2)
- 4. Choose one of the essays. Explain one reason the essay is effective. (1)
- Review these notes on the paragraph!
- Paragraph 1: Complete a rough copy expository paragraph on one of the following topics:
- Explain three problems with social media.
- Explain how to change a tire.
- Explain the benefits of school uniforms.
- Explain how you make a good cup of tea or coffee.
- No I or my // avoid you unless you’re giving instructions // 8-16 sentences // 2-4 intro transitions // no line breaks // draft copy

- Finish reading Chp. 5 and 6 of October Sky. Finish the study guide with as much detail as possible. Don't forget that the vocabulary on the back of the study guide will be part of the Part 1 test (Wed. March 8)!
