Term 3 marks end tomorrow. See me next week if you're missing anything!

English 11 Block 1:

  • For Friday
    • Did you miss today's subject-verb agreement test?
    • We're currently in the middle of our media literacy unit. We're exploring concepts like media, propaganda, disinformation, and "fake news". Today we examined two competing medical websites. Finish your t-chart notes, one column for each of the two websites, identifying which one is ultimately more trustworthy and credible as a straight medical information site. Follow its internal links and investigate using Google and Wikipedia.
    • If not finished: Using the notes sheet I handed out, complete your point form notes for the second (Adam Sandler) fake news article. Aim for 4-6 points in each of four columns. This assignment is due Wednesday.
  • Long term
    • Have you not finished your technology essay? Did you miss the "Fragments and Run-Ons" and "Parts of the Sentence" tests? If so, see me ASAP!

    English 12 Block 2:

    Philosophy 12 Block 3:

    • For Friday
      • Most recent journal questions
        •  (#10):  You are the captain of a 20-crew submarine that’s lying on the seabed. Its engines are destroyed. Rescue is three days away. There’s only enough air for five people over that three-day span. What do you decide? What’s the rationale for your decision?
        • (#9): Lawyers take a solemn oath to defend the interests of their clients. They must not suppress information either. If you were the lawyer, would you withhold information that implicates your client in a violent crime, even if you might be disbarred*?
      • We marked this today! Complete the following questions for George Woodcock's "Tyranny of the Clock" (from 75 Readings Plus):
        • 1. According to Woodcock, what is the difference between the ancient and modern western definitions of time? (2)
        • 2. Which group in society embraced and encouraged the new conception of time? Why? (2)
        • 3. Why can we conclude that Woodcock is an anarchist? Explain. (2)
