Term 3 ended on Friday, April 14. See me this week if you're missing anything!

English 11 Block 1:

  • For Thursday
    • We're nearing the end of our media literacy unit. We're exploring concepts like media, propaganda, disinformation, "fake news", and reliability. Today we started our complex paragraph for the two "Break the Fake" websites we are comparing.
    • We continued our punctuation unit today by examining apostrophes.
    • Did you miss the subject-verb agreement test?
  • Long term
    • Have you not finished your technology essay? Did you miss the "Fragments and Run-Ons" and "Parts of the Sentence" tests? If so, see me ASAP!

    English 12 Block 2:

    • For Thursday
      • The personal essay is due by Saturday! I'll be marking it Sunday. We started writing it today. We'll finish it (hopefully) tomorrow. I'll post more formatting details tomorrow.
      • Finish your outline for the personal essay. /10 marks
      • Finish your brainstorms for your two chosen essay topics. Use a list method or a mind-map for each topic. 2 x5 marks = 10 marks total.
    • Long term
      • Did you miss the editing test? The spelling test?

    Philosophy 12 Block 3:

    • For Thursday
      • Finish all the Metaphysics 1 questions for Wednesday, no later!
      • Most recent journal questions:
        • (#12) If you could choose the sex and physical appearance of your soon-to-be-born child, would you do it? Why or why not? Would it make a difference if we were talking about diseases like Parkinson’s?
        • (#11): A close friend, Jane, asks – and genuinely wants – your opinion about something, but your opinion is one that she is likely to find quite painful. For example, Jane is an artist, and asks for your honest estimate of her chances of being successful. You think Jane is an atrocious artist who hasn’t the slightest chance of success. What would you do?
        • (#10):  You are the captain of a 20-crew submarine that’s lying on the seabed. Its engines are destroyed. Rescue is three days away. There’s only enough air for five people over that three-day span. What do you decide? What’s the rationale for your decision?
      • Did you miss the ethics test on Thursday, April 6? If so, see me ASAP.
