Homework for Monday
  • For Monday, complete your rough copy paragraph that answers the question, "What is philosophy?" You'll receive 5 marks for completion of the rough copy.
    • Brainstorm all the elements that might define philosophy.
    • Try to group your examples into three of four categories. Categorization is a critical thinking process that finds commonalities across various examples. These categories become the basis of body sections within paragraphs.
    • Make each category one of the sections of the paragraph body.
  • Test alert! We'll be writing the first test next Tuesday on "What is philosophy?"
  • If not finished, complete all of the questions from the introductory chapter of the textbook.
  • Make sure you get the notes on knowledge and epistemology.

Homework for Monday
  • Get the POV notes from another student if you missed Friday's class.
  • Quiz alert! Did you miss Friday's quiz? Read Alice Munro's "Girls and Boys" from the short story booklet.
    • Take notes on the main plot events, the characters, and the symbols (including the horse and the curtains).
    • Consider how the socialization process changes the self-image of the main character.
  • Did you get the notes on character? Pick up the "Bedtime Story" pretest from the English 12 bin.
  • Did you miss the questions from Luisa Valenzuela's "The Censors"? If so, see me ASAP for the alt assignment!
  • Get you mom, dad, or guardian to sign the Letter to Parents! /10
  • By this Friday you'll need three labeled tab dividers: Grammar / Writing / Units  /5

  • If not finished, complete the "Two Article" assignment we worked on Wednesday. Why are the articles fake? What makes them good fakes?
    • Create at least 7 points per article, but the more the better.
