- Finish ALL of Maus II, including the study guide! Detail counts; prettiness does not!
- Consider the following questions:
- 1. What was daily life like in Auschwitz? What were the living conditions and difficulties that Vladek faced?
- 2. Describe the personality of Vladek as an elderly man. Provide specific examples of actions that display his personality. You may use examples from both Maus I and Maus II.
- 3. How was Vladek a survivor? Provide specific examples of ways that he used his skills to survive his conditions and “make himself useful”. You may use specific examples from both Maus I and Maus II.

- "Classical Ethics" project:
- Finish the rough copies of your mini-paragraphs. We'll put together the project tomorrow.
- Complete the summary sheet for the racism discussion.
- If not finished, finish ALL of the questions in the Introduction to Ethics handout. Use FULL sentences and aim for 2-3 sentences per question.
- Get today's notes on the philosophy of racism, if you were away.
- Here are the most recent journal entries:
- Where would you choose to be if you could place yourself anywhere on a scale from one to ten, where one is sacrifice and struggle, but extraordinary accomplishment (in the eyes of others) and ten is comfort and peace of mind, but no accomplishment. Why?
- Would you accept $2,000,000 on the condition that you can never again own a smartphone? Would you do it if you could never again use the Internet?
- Whom do you admire most? In what way does that person inspire you? How does that person live a “good life”?
- Would you be willing to murder an innocent person, and go to jail for life, if it would end hunger in the world? Explain!
- Do you feel that advice from older people carries a special weight because of their greater experience?
- Would it disturb you much if you knew that, upon your death, your body would be simply thrown into the woods and left to rot? Why?
