English 11 Block 1: Homework for Monday

  • Read the assignment at the back of the "Break the Fake" handout.
    • Choose one of the three topics (flu remedies, consumer advocacy, or the solar minimum).
    • Create a full page quad chart like we did with the pediatrician websites. Which of the two websites in your topic is more trustworthy? Take point form notes to fill out all four quadrants; however, two quadrants are more likely to be filled than the other two. Aim for at least 20 point form notes overall. The more, the better.
  • Test alert! We'll be writing a subject verb test on Tuesday, April 30! Check out the following sites:
  • If not finished, complete your "quad" notes on the two fake websites below. Give me at least 4-6 detailed points for each website on (1) what makes this site an obvious fake, and (2) what makes this site a good fake. /20

What would you do?
