English 11 Block 1: Homework for Wednesday

Finish your quad notes for Tuesday!
Choose one of the three topics (flu remedies, consumer advocacy, or the solar minimum).
Create a full page quad chart like we did with the pediatrician websites. Which of the two websites in your topic is more trustworthy? Take point form notes to fill out all four quadrants; however, two quadrants are more likely to be filled than the other two. Aim for at least 20 point form notes overall. The more, the better.

Complete the topic organizer on addiction. Read the article on Jordy AND watch the following videos:

Finish your notes (5-8 point form notes) on atheism, pantheism, deism, or theism (pp. 174-177).

If not finished, complete your second group of free will and determinism notes for pp. 117 to 120:

10. You are the captain of a 20-crew submarine that’s lying on the seabed. Its engines are destroyed. Rescue is three days away. There’s only enough air for five people over that three-day span. What do you decide? What’s the rationale for your decision?
9. Lawyers take a solemn oath to defend the interests of their clients. They must not suppress information either. If you were the lawyer, would you withhold information that implicates your client in a violent crime, even if you might be disbarred?

Essay: Today (Tuesday) was the last day of writing the personal essay. It is due Monday, May 6 at 3:00pm, but you may hand it in via Office 365/Share beforehand.
