 English 11 Block 1: Homework for Tuesday

  • October SkyFinish reading ALL of October SkyFinish the Part 4 study guide. (It's worth 10 marks. I want detail, not prettiness! Also, study your vocabulary!)
    • The final exam (on October Sky) will be written on Thursday, June 20.
  • Did you miss the capitalization test on Monday, June 17? 
  • Did you miss the Part 2 and/or Part 3 tests? See me ASAP!


Philosophy 12 Block 2: 
Homework for Tuesday
  • Start you philosophical manifesto. It's due next Monday!
  • Finish your "editorial values" assignment!
  • Here are the journal entries (so far) for Round 3:
    • 18. Would you be willing to commit perjury for your best friend? For example, might you testify that he was driving carefully when he hit a pedestrian, even though he had been joking around and not paying attention? 
    • 19. As a soldier, would you willingly die for your country? Would it matter if you volunteered or were drafted? Remember Socrates’s final choice. What would he say?
    • 20. Now that we are half-way through this unit, you may be closer to self-understanding. Which political philosophy most closely resembles your own beliefs? Explain with at least three examples.
    • 21. Should Canada’s M.A.I.D. (medical assistance in dying) policy be extended to those with mental illness? Explain why or why not with specific reasons.


English 12 Block 3: 
Homework for Tuesday
  • Finish the paragraph on "The Pigeon, Icarus". 
    • 10-16 sentences
    • TS/2-3 main points or examples/CS
    • Include one quotation. Cite it like this: "____________" (line 8).

English 11 Block 4 Linear: Homework for Wednesday
  • Final Exam:
    • The final exam will be written on Tuesday, June 25. It will include a poetry section and a grammar section. Start reviewing the latter!
  • Poetry: 
    • Finish your "imagery" paragraph for Wednesday. Choose one poem from the "imagery" poems package and describe 2-3 images in a proper paragraph form. What do the images have in common? What do they collectively tell us about the theme alluded to in the title?
    • Get the "emotional impact" notes from a classmate if you missed them.
    • If not finished, complete your paragraph assignment! Explain the theme of one poem from Tuesday's handout (E, H, F, G or K). /10 for the rough copy
      • 6-12 sentences
      • 2-3 main points about the theme
      • one quotation
