Communications 11 Block 1: Homework for Friday
  • This week we'll finish 2.4, write the Mod. 2 test and work on 3.1. (3.1 is due by the end of the week or the first day back after the spring break.)
    • Finish the Module 2 review before you write the Module 2 unit exam!
  • The  role model PowerPoint project for Module 2.4 must be finished by Monday. 
  • Create the following:
    • an introductory slide with a title and your name;
    • 2-3 slides about the early life of your role model;
    • 2-3 slides on what s/he contributed to society and what made him or her well known;
    • 2-3 slides on what makes him or her a role model;
    • A concluding slide with the active URL’s of your research
      • The presentation should be between 8-10 slides
  • Feel free to email the pptx. file to me (my address is on the right) once it's met all the requirements of the handout:
    • 10 marks for research;
    • 20 marks for spelling and grammar;
    • 10 marks for clear explanations;
    • 5 marks for transitions
    • 5 marks for animations
    • 5 marks for graphics
    • 5 marks for an audio or video component
      • /60 marks
  • You should also be finished the essay analysis practice and your notes on your selected role model.

English 11 Block 2: Homework for Friday
  • For Friday, create an outline for each of the two different compare and contrast topics:
    1. Compare and contrast the relationships that the father in “Wordsmith” and Sam Sing in “The Gold Mountain Coat” have with their children. 
    2. Compare and contrast the short story and film versions of "The Painted Door".
  • It's probably best to attempt a simple form of the compare and contrast essay.
  • If not finished, complete reading Sinclair Ross's "The Painted Door". Then, watch the video version of the story and create a T-chart of differences and similarities between the two versions. Aim for at least 15 point in total.
  • Did you write Wednesday's short story test?
