- Re-read 5.1 of Romeo and Juliet.

English 12 Block 3: Homework for Thursday
- Complete your "quotes" assignment for Thursday. Write out two quotes for each of the four essays.
- One quote should focus on what the author says, and the other quote should focus on how it's being said.
- Blend AND cite all eight quotations.
- Complete one page of notes for each essay: "Riding the Hyphen" and "I Have a Dream".
- Look for the topic, thesis, key points and examples, style and stylistic devices.
English 12 Block 4 Linear: Homework for Thursday
- For Thursday, read Leo Tolstoy's "How much land does a man need?"
- Review these notes on didactic writing.
- Read (and re-read if necessary) Kate Chopin's "The Story of an Hour". Be ready for a short multiple choice quiz on Tuesday.
- Re-read your notes on irony, or check out my online notes on irony.
- If you missed the original assignment, answer the following alternate assignment for Tobias Wolff's "Say Yes":
