- Read Dan Ross's "Always a Motive" for Thursday's multiple choice comprehension quiz. Also, review your notes on theme and plot.
- If not done, read Eric Knight's "Rifles of the Regiment" complete the following alternate assignment: Explain how both inner and external conflict are present in "Rifles of the Regiment". Write a paragraph of 7 to 14 sentences and include both a topic and concluding sentence.
- The good copy paragraph was due last Friday!

- Continue reading Maus (Vol.1). Finish reading Chp. 4.
- Start work on the study guide. It's due next Monday, the same day as the Maus (Vol.1) quiz.

- Read Jo Goodwin Parker's "What is poverty?" from the essay booklet and finish the following questions in full sentences:
- 1. What is the main point of this essay?
- 2. Explain at least 3 specific examples or illustrations in Parker’s essay. This should take at least three sentences.
- 3. Explain one stylistic device used in this essay. Use Tuesday's handout for guidance.
- 4. Explain how this is an expository form of essay. This should take at least two sentences. Is it completely expository? Why or why not?
- 5. Evaluation: What did you like and/or dislike about this essay? Be specific.
