English 11 Block 1: Homework for 
 Wednesday
  • Read Eric Knight's "Rifles of the Regiment" from the short story booklet and finish the following questions in full sentences:
    • 1.  Explain how the emotion of fear is made into a character. (3)
    • 2. Conflict: Explain the problem faced by Heathergall and his men. In addition, explain the problem faced by Heathergall himself. (3) 
    • 3. How were both problems resolved? (3)
    • 4. Explain a major theme of this story. (Try to avoid moral statements and focus on a problem or challenge that we all face at some time in our lives.) (3)
  • The good copy paragraph was due Friday!

English 10 Blocks 2/3: Homework for
Wednesday
  • Continue reading Maus (Vol.1). Finish reading Chp. 3.
    • Start work on the study guide. It's due next Monday, the same day as the Maus (Vol.1) quiz.
  • The essay for the following essay topic was due today! I'll need a hard copy!
    • Should 16 year-olds be considered adults, children or something in-between?

English 12 Block 4 Linear: Homework for Thursday
  • Read Jo Goodwin Parker's "What is poverty?" from the essay booklet and finish the following questions in full sentences:
    • 1. What is the main point of this essay? 
    • 2. Explain at least 3 specific examples or illustrations in Parker’s essay. This should take at least three sentences. 
    • 3. Explain one stylistic device used in this essay. Use Tuesday's handout for guidance.
    • 4. Explain how this is an expository form of essay. This should take at least two sentences. Is it completely expository? Why or why not? 
    • 5. Evaluation: What did you like and/or dislike about this essay? Be specific.
