 English 12 Block 1:

  • Test alert! We've nearly finished a mini-grammar unit on punctuation. The test will be tomorrow (i.e. Tuesday)!
  • Complete the quotation blending exercise (Section B) on your quotations handout (12 marks) for Monday.
    • Choose two quotes for each of the three blending types.

    English 9 Block 2:

    • Quiz alert! Study your vocab words for the Chps. 7 and 8 quiz tomorrow!
    • Read Chapter 8 of Animal Farm and start Chapter 9. Complete the 2nd study guide up to and including #10. 
    • Test alert: On Tuesday, Nov. 22 Wednesday, Nov. 23, we wrote the first Animal Farm test (Chps. 1-6). It included multiple choice and a paragraph. If you missed it, see me ASAP.
      • Review the Powerpoint notes on Animal Farm literary terms and themes.
      • If you would like, I have a free epub version of the novel. Download the file here and open up the file in any free epub reader app on a phone or tablet. Some free apps even offer a live voice option!
    • Type up your essay in Office 365! Include a IP, 3 BPs, and a CP. You should have the essay finished by Tuesday, Nov. 8. 
      • Use the checklist I gave you!


    English 11 Block 3:
     
    • Read Chp. 3 of October Sky. The first test (Chps. 1-6) will be next Friday, Dec. 2.
      • Start working on the Part 1 study guide (ignore p. 2; focus on pp. 1 and 3).

      • Study your three fill-in-the-blank note sets.
    • Due last Tuesday: Using the sheet below (click for a larger image), choose one of the 3 topics [flu remedies, consumer advocacy, and the solar minimum]. Then do a "deep dive" into the two websites listed under the topic you've chosen. Create a set of point-form notes where you identify the strengths and weaknesses of each website. Overall, which one is more credible?
