 English 12 Block 1:

  • We are reading The Great Gatsby!
    • Due Friday: Finish a set of Cornell notes for Chp. 2. You must be judicious!
      • Start reading Chp. 3 if you have time.
    • You can download the free epub version of The Great Gatsby here. (Right click and hit Save link as...). Then, open it up in a free epub reader like Frieda. Most of these free apps have a read-aloud function.
    • Alternatively, you can read use an online audio book version here.
  • The essay was due on Monday by 4:00 pm. Send it to me via "Share". Don't forget to follow the checklist I handed out.
    • You can review the essay as a whole here.

    English 9 Block 2:

    • Read "Grandma's Scones" from Interface (p. 88). Then, answer the questions here in full sentences. The last question is a bonus.
    • Did you miss this week's test on the parts of the sentence?
    • Did you miss the Animal Farm 2 test? If so, see me ASAP.
      • Finish reading Chapter 10 of Animal Farm. Complete the 2nd study guide.
      • Study the notes on:
        • propaganda;
        • the changes to the 7 commandments;
        • "Decoding the Allegory";
        • T-chart on the similarities and differences between the movie and novel versions of Animal Farm. 


    English 11 Block 3:     
    • Read Chp. 16 of October Sky. 
      • Continue the Part 3 study guide and vocab words.

    English 11 Block 4 (Day 2):     
    • For Tuesday, Jan. 3, type up the different paragraphs into one essay that answers the following question: Describe the strengths and weaknesses of digital technology.
      • Here is one picture that will help:

      • On Tuesday, Jan. 3, we'll have one more typing session which we'll use to fine-tune the essay. The essay will be due on Thursday, Jan. 5.
    • Did you miss the test on fiction? If so, see me ASAP!
    • 2nd paragraph: If not finished, complete the "negative" paragraph on the following topic: What are the negative aspects of social media and digital technology for society?
